Safe At Home Technician
POSITION SUMMARY: Provides simple home maintenance and repairs for seniors aged 60 and older throughout Will County.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree or technical certification preferred.
- Minimum two years’ previous experience in maintenance, installation or service.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job which include bending, lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and able travel region wide with reliable transportation.
- Interests in needs and welfare of older adults
- Ability to relate to older persons.
- Ability to relate to staff in a professional manner
- Positive cooperative attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to keep records and independently manage time.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete home visits to assess, quote, and perform maintenance as needed.
- Install, repair, service, and test equipment to ensure a safe, stable, and working product.
- Provide education and resources to seniors aged 60 and older about services and equipment.
- Complete referral to contractors as needed such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical service providers.
- Maintain detailed records of services and maintenance performed.
- Complete transactions with clients, provide receipts, and any warranty or follow-up information.
- Ensure all needs of the homeowners are addressed. Schedule follow up appointments if needed.
- Complete referrals to the Care Coordination Unit or Adult Protective Services as needed.
- Perform maintenance tasks at all Senior Services Properties as needed.
- Attend necessary training courses and staff meetings.
- Serves as resource person for persons aged 60 and over and their families in the community.
- Follow agency policies and procedures.
- Projects good image for agency.
- Maintains credibility and integrity of organization.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
