I was desperate for assistance because my husband was suffering with Alzheimer’s disease and I knew I could not do this alone. I reached out to Senior Services of Will County. A care coordinator came to our home did a simple assessment and discovered we qualified for assistance for a caregiver to come and allow me to do various errands. – Gwen
Coordination Care Services
The doorway through which many of the services can be acquired begins with an in-home assessment. The assessment qualifies the senior access to home delivered meals, simple home maintenance, light housekeeping, caregiver assistance, and other possible resources. The comprehensive assessment evaluates factors contributing to quality of life and ability to live independently in the community.
Safe at Home
Seniors who need simple home maintenance help can count on Senior Services to evaluate the situation, offer solutions and even connect to service providers who can help with bigger projects. Service providers for the large scale issues have all been carefully screened for cleanliness, skills, reliability, and safety. Our senior scholarship program even helps with the costs for our services on a sliding scale, from zero to an hourly charge of $65 plus materials.
Transportation is a growing issue among seniors in Will County. There is an increasing gap between accessible transportation and affordability. As more adults age than ever before, Senior Services is addressing the issue through education and cost-effective transportation options such as our Mini Bus service and our Volunteer Driving Program.
Each year in partnership with AARP and the Internal Revenue Service, Senior Services offers free tax preparation assistance at The Center as well as a number of community locations.
